About the Role:
  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Tower Hamlets, East London
  • Contract: Full-time, term-time only
  • Start Date: September 2024 or ASAP

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support and group assistance to children with SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, and other learning needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of tailored Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging independence and confidence in students.
  • Use various strategies and resources to adapt the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers, parents, and SEN specialists.
  • Work closely with other staff members to promote a positive, nurturing atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times, such as playtime and lunch breaks.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within a school setting.
  • A strong understanding of SEN, particularly Autism and ADHD, with knowledge of effective support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with children who have additional needs.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).
