Teaching assistant - Merton

Engage Education is recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our partnership with schools in Merton.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with a range of special educational needs, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional development.

Your role will involve working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Your role:

  • Providing student support and assisting them in achieving their learning goals
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt and modify curriculum materials to suit the pupil
  • Provide classroom assistance and maintain a safe learning environment for all students
  • Maintain effective communication with teachers and parents to provide updates on student progress
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to continuously develop your knowledge and skills in special education

What you need:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, parents, and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to support the growth and development of students with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Sensitivity to the cultural, social, and emotional needs of students and their families.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and evolving educational environment.
