SEN Teaching Assistant - Havering (Full-Time, Immediate Start)

Tradewind is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Havering. This full-time role involves providing 1:1 support throughout the school day for three children with Autism. The position is available for an immediate start, and the school prides itself on offering a nurturing environment that meets the individual needs of all its students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tailored Support: Deliver personalized 1:1 assistance to children with Autism, helping them navigate their day-to-day activities within a mainstream classroom.
  • Implement Communication Techniques: Use 'this now, that after' strategies to support clear communication and smooth transitions between tasks.
  • Foster a Positive Learning Environment: Encourage an inclusive and supportive atmosphere where all students feel valued and engaged.
  • Adapt Learning Resources: Adjust educational materials and classroom activities to suit the child's communication style, sensory needs, and learning preferences.
  • Emotional Regulation Support: Stay calm and patient, helping children manage their emotions and providing guidance during moments of emotional difficulty.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with Autism, ideally in an educational setting, is essential.
  • Legal Right to Work in the UK: Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS: A current Enhanced DBS check (or the willingness to undergo one) is required.

  • Full CV history since completing Secondary School, with an explanation for any Gaps in Employment.

  • Full-Time Availability: Must be available to start immediately and work full-time.
