A Special school in Merton is looking for a teaching assistant to join their team to work in a class of 7 pupils aged 11-14 years of age. The pupils have a range of complex needs, including Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. Some of the pupils have behavioural difficulties, so the school would prefer someone with experience.

The pupils are working at P Levels of the National Curriculum and use PECS and Makaton to communicate, so experience or knowledge in these areas is required. Having a certificate in Team Teach (positive handling) is highly desired too in the successful teaching assistant. Some of the pupils require personal care, so this is part of the role.
