Job Description:

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Camden. The position is full-time, commencing from October Half Term, and involves supporting a child in Year 2 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child in Year 2 with ASD, ensuring their learning needs are met in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
  • Assist with the child's educational, emotional, and social development, promoting positive engagement within the classroom.
  • Collaborate with class teachers and SENCO to implement individual learning plans (ILPs) and behavioural strategies.
  • Encourage and support the child's communication, independence, and confidence-building.
  • Manage challenging behaviours with patience and understanding, using positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall support plan for the child.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly ASD.
  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, following instructions from the class teacher and SENCO.
  • A relevant teaching assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • A current DBS check or willingness to undergo a new one.

Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, school hours.
