A SEN Teaching Assistant is required for an Autism Provision within a primary school in Lambeth. This role will involve supporting a small class of 10 pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children with Autism and will be confident in assisting the classroom teacher to ensure a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities for the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • As an SEN Teaching assistant, provide one-on-one and group support to students, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their educational targets.
  • As an SEN Teaching assistant, assist the class teacher in adapting lessons and learning activities to suit the individual needs of the students with Autism.
  • As an SEN Teaching assistant, implement strong behaviour management strategies to create a calm and focused learning environment.
  • Support students in developing social, emotional, and communication skills in line with their EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).
  • Work collaboratively with the team of LSAs to ensure all students receive the necessary support.
