Learning Support Assistant

Job Title: 1:1 SEN Support Assistant for Year 1 Student with Autism

Contract Type: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Location: Camden, North West London

A lovely, volunatary aided Catholic primary school in Camden are looking to hire a compassionate and experienced 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide tailored support for a child with autism in a Year 1 class. The successful candidate will have prior experience working with children with special educational needs and the patience to manage challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to a Year 1 student with autism, ensuring their specific needs are met.
  • Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning materials to suit the child's unique learning style.
  • Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioral strategies.
  • Track and record the child's progress, communicating updates to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Support the child in developing social skills and fostering positive relationships with peers.
  • Manage any challenging behaviors calmly and consistently.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs (SEN) is essential.
  • Previous experience in an early years or primary school setting is required.
  • Strong understanding of autism and effective strategies for supporting children with autism.
