About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant in Greenwich, Abbey Wood area, with expertise in supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) to join a dedicated team in Stevenage. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing tailored support to students, helping them achieve their potential in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support for pupils with PMLD, helping them access the curriculum and participate in activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to implement personalized learning plans.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility support, following individual care plans and risk assessments.
  • Monitor student progress and report back to the teaching team.
  • Foster a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student independence and development.
  • Adapt learning resources and teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of pupils.

Requirements for a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant, with significant experience supporting children with PMLD.
  • Knowledge of effective strategies for supporting pupils with complex learning needs, including physical disabilities and sensory impairments.
  • Ability to provide personal care in a respectful and sensitive manner.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with staff, students, and families.
  • A caring, patient, and proactive attitude.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN qualifications) are desirable but not essential.
