Speech and Language Teaching Assistant

Islington

LTF Recruitment are currently working with a warm and welcoming, OFSTED rated Outstanding School in the Islington area. Our partner school are eagerly seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant, or passionate Graduate, to provide 1:1 support to a young pupil in the school's Year 5 Class. The pupil has speech and communication difficulties, and limited language skills, so this would be a great role for a Teaching Assistant with Speech and Language experience or a Graduate eager to pursue a career in Speech and Language Therapy. This great opportunity is available to start in March and carry on for the entire academic year, with the potential of a permanent contract for the right candidate at the end.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 support to pupils with SEN in KS1
  • Supporting children with phonics and speech development
  • Leading individual and small group intervention sessions
  • Liaising with the SENCO and class teacher about the pupil's progress, keeping accurate reports regularly
  • Supporting the class teacher with managing class behaviour

The school are seeking candidates who:

  • Hold a relevant TA qualification or Degree
  • Have 1 years' experience supporting SEN
  • Speech and Language experience or training is desirable
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Are able to quickly build relationships with students and staff.

This SEN Teaching Assistant role is a fantastic opportunity to being working in an inclusive, mainstream primary school who are committed to inclusion and all children. Children are given the time and space to develop their emotional literacy and compassion for others, their creativity and enjoyment of the arts, their understanding of citizenship and a love and respect for nature alongside the National Curriculum. If this sounds like the role and school for you then please don't hesitate to submit your CV via the application page or contact Richard directly at LTF Recruitment.
