Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with PMLD. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with complex needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with PMLD, assisting with their educational and personal care needs
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and ensure students' diverse needs are met
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials to make them accessible and engaging for students with PMLD
  • Support students in developing their communication, social, and life skills
  • Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment, fostering a sense of belonging and self-confidence for all students

Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Understanding of different learning styles and methods to support students with diverse needs
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant certifications or willingness to undergo training in special education and support techniques

Day-to-Day

  • Assist students with PMLD in their daily activities and learning tasks
  • Implement strategies and activities to support students' academic and personal development
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure coordinated support for students with diverse needs
  • Foster a nurturing and supportive environment where all students feel valued and included
