Long Term Futures, a leading education recruitment agency, is looking for a dedicated Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist early years setting in Brent. This full-time role will start immediately after the Easter break and run for the remainder of the academic year, with potential for a permanent position from September.

Location: Specialist early years provision in Brent, with excellent transport links and on-site parking
Start Date: ASAP after the Easter break
Duration: Until the end of the academic year, with a permanent opportunity from September
Pay Rate: 100 - 120 per day
The School:
This specialist early years provision is dedicated to supporting children aged 3 to 5 years old with a range of special educational needs, including Autism (ASD), speech and language difficulties, and sensory processing disorders. The school provides a nurturing and structured environment where children receive tailored support to help them develop communication, social, and independent learning skills.
With a multi-disciplinary team of SEN professionals, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and specialist teachers, the setting ensures that every child receives the highest quality support. The school promotes a play-based learning approach, incorporating sensory activities and structured routines to help children thrive.
The Role:
As an Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting children with complex needs, helping them to access learning in a way that meets their individual needs. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing one-on-one and small group support to children with SEN
Assisting with communication development, using techniques such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and Makaton (training provided if needed)
Supporting children with sensory and behavioural needs, implementing tailored strategies to help them regulate emotions and engage with learning
Working closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a consistent approach to each child's development
Helping to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment with structured activities that promote progress
Assisting with personal care tasks where necessary (training provided if required)
What We Are Looking For:
Experience working in an early years or special needs setting
Knowledge or experience of supporting children with Autism (ASD), speech and language difficulties, or sensory processing disorders
Understanding of PECS, Makaton, or sensory integration techniques (desirable but not essential)
A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to working with young children
A Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification (desirable but not essential)
