About the Role

Long Term Futures is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Hackney, N4. This role involves one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction, helping pupils with additional learning needs engage with the curriculum and develop confidence.

Working alongside teachers and SEN specialists, you will support students in lessons and through tailored interventions, implementing behaviour management strategies and tracking progress monitoring to ensure positive academic and personal development. Some pupils may require in-class support, while others may benefit from structured out-of-class interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction to support learning.
  • Assist in lesson planning, adapting resources for different learning styles.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to foster a structured environment.
  • Track progress monitoring, assessing student development and adjusting support.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and external professionals to meet individual needs.

  • Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEN.
  • Strong understanding of one-on-one tutoring, small group instruction, and differentiation.
  • Confident in behaviour management techniques to support engagement.
  • A proactive and patient approach to progress monitoring and pupil development.
  • A team player who can work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists.
