Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Primary School (Lewisham)

Are you a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant seeking a rewarding role in a diverse and inclusive mainstream primary school? We are currently looking for a dedicated individual to join our thriving school community in Lewisham for the new academic year starting September 2025.

Start Date: September 2025
Salary: 95 - 115 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-Time Only
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm (Monday to Friday)

About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the school's SENCO to support children with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other learning challenges.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN across various year groups.
  • Assisting in the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Supporting classroom routines and adapting resources to meet individual learning needs.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and maintaining accurate records.
  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.

About You:

We are seeking someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children with SEN in their learning and development.
  • Empathetic, patient, and positive in their approach to challenges.
  • Experienced in working with primary-aged children, ideally in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Adaptable and confident in building relationships with children, staff, and families.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant experience supporting children with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE or equivalent).
  • Right to work in the UK and a willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism or Speech and Language needs.
