SEN Teaching Assistant

Pay: £90-£110 per day

Full-time/ Term Time only

Hackney, East London

We are currently working with SEN setting school in Hackney. SEN teaching assistants work closely with teachers to help tailor lessons and provide individualized support to ensure that every child can participate fully in school activities. These needs can range from physical disabilities to learning disabilities such as autism, ADHD, or dyslexia.

SEN Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Manage challenging behaviour, using strategies that are suitable for each child.
  • Support children with personal care needs such as feeding, toileting, and mobility, particularly if the child has physical disabilities.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and friendships among students.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about their child's progress or challenges.
  • Provide tailored support to students with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, or emotional needs.
  • Occasionally work alongside speech therapists, occupational therapists, or other professionals who are involved in the child's development.

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting Non-Verbal learners, Down Syndrome and profound and multiple learning difficulties.
  • Previous experience working with SEMH/SEN students and dealing with challenging behaviour/classroom support.
  • Ability to adapt to changing classroom situations and the needs of individual children.
  • Clear communication with children, teachers, parents, and other professionals.
