SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Specialist) -Mainstream Primary School, Walthamstow

Tradewind Recruitment is excited to be partnering with a lovely, welcoming Primary School in Walthamstow, Waltham Forest, to recruit a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about supporting children with Autism in a 1:1 capacity.

The role involves working in the Reception class, providing tailored assistance to children with Autism, helping them to thrive in a nurturing and supportive environment. You will play an integral part in the child's learning and development, offering encouragement, building trust, and fostering positive relationships. Your ability to adapt to the unique needs of the child will be essential in creating an inclusive and engaging learning space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for children with Autism in the Reception class
  • Collaborate with class teachers and SENCO to develop personalised learning plans
  • Implement a range of strategies to support learning and behaviour
  • Encourage social interaction, communication, and emotional development
  • Monitor and record progress, reporting to the class teacher and parents

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with children with Autism, ideally in a school setting
  • A calm and patient approach to supporting children with additional needs
  • A genuine passion for helping children to overcome barriers to learning
  • An understanding of the EYFS curriculum is desirable but not essential

Position Details:

  • Salary: £90-£95 per day
  • Full-time role, starting October/November 2024
  • Long-term contract
