What's expected of you in your Teaching Assistant Role?

  1. Helping in the Classroom
  • Support Learning: Help students understand lessons, especially if they are struggling.
  • Assist the Teacher: Prepare lesson materials, mark simple work, and help the teacher run the class smoothly.
  1. Working with Students
  • One-on-One Help: Support students who need extra attention, like those with learning difficulties or who are behind in certain subjects.
  • Small Group Work: Work with small groups to reinforce lessons.
  1. Looking After Students
  • Supervising: Watch over children during playtime, lunch, and school trips to keep them safe.
  • Encouraging Good Behaviour: Help manage behaviour by reminding students of the rules and supporting a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
  1. Supporting Well-being
  • Emotional Support: Be there to listen to children, offer encouragement, and help build their confidence.
  • Safeguarding: Be aware of any issues with a child's safety and report concerns to the right people.
  1. Communication
  • Work with the Teacher: Share observations about how students are doing, especially those who need more help.
  • Talk to Parents: Sometimes communicate with parents, especially if you're supporting a child closely.
