This SEN Teaching Assistant role focuses on providing personalised, one-on-one support to a KS1 pupil, helping them engage with learning activities and develop confidence within the classroom setting. Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • 1:1 Support: Work closely with the child, tailoring your support to meet their specific needs, promoting both academic and social development.

  • Collaborate with Teachers and SENCO: Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual learning strategies and adapt lessons as necessary.
  • Monitor Progress: Track and record the pupil's progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents to ensure consistent support.
  • Create a Safe Space: Establish a trusting relationship with the child, offering a calm and reassuring presence in the classroom.

What We're Looking For in an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience with SEN: Prior experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly in a 1:1 setting, is highly desirable.
  • Patience and Positivity: A warm, understanding approach to supporting young learners, with the ability to remain patient and encouraging.
