The Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and physical disabilities.
- Assist students with their learning activities, ensuring they are fully engaged and making progress.
- Support students with daily tasks and encourage their independence both in and out of the classroom.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement tailored educational plans and interventions.
- Monitor and track students' progress, helping to adapt support where necessary.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting respect and self-esteem.
- Support students’ emotional and social development, helping them build confidence and resilience.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable, but not essential.
- A caring, patient, and empathetic attitude with the ability to adapt to the individual needs of each student.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, other support staff, and parents.
- A proactive approach to supporting students in their learning and personal development.
- An understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and a commitment to helping them succeed.
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential.
