We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Greenwich. Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEN.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, aiding their learning and development both in the classroom and during specialised sessions.
- Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere, encouraging students to build their confidence and self-esteem.
- Collaborate with the SEN team and other professionals to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
- Help manage behaviour and implement strategies to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support students in their personal care and mobility, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Assist with the integration of students with SEN into mainstream classes, promoting their participation and social interactions.
- Monitor and track student progress, maintaining accurate records to inform future planning and reporting to parents and caregivers.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in SEN education.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in an SEN setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- A genuine passion for supporting students with SEN and a strong desire to make a positive impact.
- Compassion, patience, and the ability to empathise with students, understanding their unique challenges and strengths.
- Excellent communication skills, essential for building positive relationships and effective teamwork.
- Willingness to learn and implement various educational strategies to support students with diverse learning needs.
- An understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children.
- Enhanced DBS on update system (not required but beneficial)
