Job Description:An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-respected primary school based in Hackney. This role involves providing 1:1 support to a child who has been diagnosed with Autism, ensuring they have an inclusive and enriching learning experience in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to the child with Autism on a 1:1 basis throughout the school day
  • Support the child in both structured lessons and during unstructured periods, promoting their social and emotional development
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to deliver effective strategies and interventions
  • Help the child engage with their learning, using a variety of communication techniques and educational tools
  • Assist with implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Ensure the child is safe and supported within the school environment
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with Autism or other Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Passion for supporting children's development and learning
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or similar) is desirable, but not essential
  • A positive and resilient attitude
