Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

GSL Education are searching for a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school in Haringey. This role involves working with students with a range of needs, including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Other Health Needs (OTH), Physical Disabilities (PD), and Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN).
Role Overview: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide crucial support to students with additional needs, helping them to engage with their learning and develop life skills. You will work closely with teachers to ensure an inclusive learning environment, tailored to the individual needs of each student.
Responsibilities of the SEN TA:
- Provide tailored support to students with HI, OTH, SpLD, and VI, assisting with their learning and social integration.
- Work closely with teachers to deliver specialised lesson plans and support strategies for each individual student.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages positive learning outcomes.
- Help students develop social skills and manage any challenges related to their impairments.
- Monitor and report on student progress, contributing to the development of personalised education plans.
Requirements of the SEN TA:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, focusing on MLD, OTH, PD, and SLCN.
- Assist with classroom management and support the teacher in delivering tailored lessons.
- Help students with personal care needs where necessary, including mobility and communication support.
- Use a range of strategies to encourage students’ participation and learning.
- Develop a strong understanding of each student’s individual needs and adapt support accordingly.
- Work collaboratively with other teaching staff, parents, and external professionals.
- Support students during breaks, lunchtime, and extra-curricular activities.
- Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Updated Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
