SANZA Teaching Agency are currently recruiting on behalf of a lovely 1-form entry primary school in Ealing.

The school has a Specialist Provision for students that have an Educational Health and Care Plan, that states they have severe learning difficulties (SLD) and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the students with special needs/severe learning difficulties (SLD) and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Help implement and follow the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and behaviour management strategies
  • Facilitate communication and language development through alternative communication methods
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and the SENCO to plan and adapt activities to meet the pupil's specific needs
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for the pupil, promoting their social integration with peers
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents, providing regular feedback on the child's progress

A multidisciplinary staff team including specialist teaching staff and external professionals such as Educational Psychologist delivers the curriculum. Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists are an integral part of what the school offers.

About you:

  • Relevant experience supporting children with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or relevant special educational needs
  • Understanding of pre-verbal communication methods and strategies
  • Knowledge with challenging behaviour, including behaviour management techniques and the ability to adapt them to meet individual needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs
