Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Ealing

Type: Full-Time (Temporary with Permanent option)

Working Hours; 08:30 am - 16:00 pm.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in the daily support and development of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Classroom Support: Assist the classroom teacher in delivering individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of each student.

  • Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management strategies to support students with SEMH, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • One-on-One Assistance: Provide direct support to students, helping them with academic tasks, social interactions, and emotional regulation.

  • Group Activities: Facilitate small group activities and learning sessions, ensuring all students are engaged and supported.

  • Communication: Liaise with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the holistic development of each student.

  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative duties such as preparing learning materials, documenting student progress, and maintaining classroom records.

  • School Activities: Support students during school activities, outings, and events, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and SEMH support.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEMH or other special educational needs is highly desirable.

  • Education: Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or related fields are preferred.

  • Empathy and Patience: A caring and understanding nature, with the ability to remain patient and composed in challenging situations.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, staff, and parents.

  • Adaptability: The ability to adapt to the varying needs of students and work flexibly within a dynamic school environment.

  • Team Player: A collaborative mindset to work effectively within a team of educators and support staff.
