Hatched Recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for SEN Coordinator in the Westminster area.

Job Purpose:

To undertake the statutory assessment process of an SEN needs assessment and the issuing of SEN Plans within twenty weeks as per the statutory deadlines, which is in accordance with The Children and Families Act 2014 and SEN Code of Practice January 2015.

Ensure that SEN Plans are high quality, person centred and outcome focused and based on the evidence from the child or young person, their families, schools and other educational settings, educational psychologists, medical officers including therapists, social workers and any other professionals working with the child or young person.

Ensure that the education, health and care needs assessment is undertaken within statutory timeframes, information is recorded correctly and appropriately on databases/systems and records are kept up-to-date and accurate.

Which will include:

* Being a single point of regular and consistent contact for the child or young person and their parents/carers during the education, health and care needs assessment process;

* Facilitating multi-agency meetings;

* Co-ordinating services and practitioners around the child and young person and their family;

* Supporting a single planning and joint assessment process;

* Providing information and signposting where necessary;

* Providing emotional and practical support as required as part of a trusting relationship; and enabling and empowering the child and young person and their families to make decisions.

This is full time, Monday to Friday (36 hours a week role, core hours 10am to 4pm, 7hours 20 minutes per day). This is a hybrid role with an expectation of attendance at meetings in the borough on at least a weekly basis.

Demonstrable extensive experience of working in an SEN service;

  • Demonstrable experience of writing high quality EHCPs;
  • Demonstrable experience of excellent verbal and written skills;
  • Demonstrable experience of meeting statutory deadlines and working in autonomy as well as within a team.
  • Recent experience of working within an LA SEN service
  • Must be able to write high quality EHCP
  • Must be able to meet statutory timeframes
  • Be able to attend meetings in borough/Town Hall on at least a weekly basis
