About the Role:
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a mainstream secondary school, rated as 'Good' by Ofsted, for an experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join their team full-time, starting after the Easter break. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to make an immediate impact in a thriving school environment, supporting students with a range of special educational needs.

As the SENCO, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with SEND receive the best possible support throughout their academic journey. The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running, bringing their expertise in SEND leadership and creating an inclusive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the SEND department, ensuring effective provision and support for students with a wide range of needs.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to implement inclusive practices and monitor student progress.

  • Oversee the identification, assessment, and intervention processes for students with SEND.

  • Provide guidance and training to staff on SEND-related issues, promoting best practices in the classroom.

  • Liaise with parents and external agencies to ensure that students' needs are being met effectively.

  • Ensure compliance with SEND legislation, policies, and procedures.

About You:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) and a postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs (e.g., SENCo Award).

  • Significant experience as a SENCO, or in a similar leadership role within a secondary school setting.

  • A thorough understanding of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice, and strategies to support students with diverse needs.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and inspire a team.

  • Excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • A passion for inclusive education and the ability to make an immediate impact on student outcomes.
