Secondary Behaviour Support Assistant

LTF Recruitment is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join a large secondary school in Westminster, London. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students with behavioural challenges and special educational needs (SEN). You will play a key role in helping create a positive and inclusive learning environment, focusing on improving student behaviour and providing tailored support to students with SEN.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with teachers and the behaviour lead to manage and improve student behaviour across the secondary school.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with behavioural challenges and SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met both academically and emotionally.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to address specific behavioural issues and provide focused SEN support.
  • Respond to on-call behaviour support requests, assisting in de-escalating challenging situations in a calm and effective manner.
  • Regularly monitor and adjust behaviour plans based on assessments and student progress, ensuring continuous support for both behavioural and SEN needs.
  • Conduct risk assessments to ensure a safe and supportive environment for students dealing with behavioural and SEN challenges.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students to promote improved behaviour and foster an inclusive school experience.


Person Specification:

  • Experience in a secondary school behaviour support role or similar position working with students with behavioural and SEN needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage and support student behaviour.
  • A passion for helping students overcome behavioural challenges and succeed academically, particularly those with SEN.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, especially in behaviour management and SEN support roles.
