Summary

A Good School in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea are seeking to appoint a Primary Teacher with solid SEN teaching experience to join them full time and long term. The headteacher is open to both supply and/or perm from day 1 and the role is to start ASAP or April. The teaching role is based in their Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) for pupils with Social, Emotional, Mental Health Needs (SEMH).

The Additionally Resourced Provision is a well equipped and nurtured base where all pupils have either 121 teaching or are taught in very small groups. Working closely with the SENCO, you will have access to the pupils ECHPs and have regular communication with parents/carers and outside agencies.

To be Successful, you will

  • Have a Primary PGCE or equivalent with QTS (qualified teacher status) - Non negotiable
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update service (or be willing to undergo a new check)
  • Experience of SEN Teaching whether that’s in SEN school or within an ARP
  • Have experience of working with students with special needs, particularly SEMH/ADHD/ASD
  • Create, develop and maintain a high-quality educational environment for pupils with SEN
  • Show a commitment to raising opportunities and progression of our learners and support them in all aspects of their learning both in the ARP and in their mainstream lessons.
  • Direct and mentor classroom support staff.
  • Plan and teach differentiated lessons and support staff in the mainstream to further develop the pupil’s progression
  • Have the ability to envision to enthuse, inspire and motivate students, staff and parents/carers
  • Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school, understanding the additional vulnerabilities that may arise for children with SEND
  • Utilise technology where appropriate to make appropriate adaptations and equip children with skills for life
  • Work closely with colleagues, parents, and carers to ensure the best outcomes for children.

The role starts now or April and can be long term supply or permanent from day 1 (will be decided at interview). You will be required to take on the full teaching responsibilities of a classroom teacher and develop the pupils both academically and emotionally.
