About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled tutor to work one-on-one with a student in Newham with complex SEN, including epilepsy and ASD. The successful candidate will provide tailored support to meet the student's educational, social, and emotional needs in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver personalised learning plans tailored to the student's individual needs.
- Manage and respond effectively to the student's epilepsy-related health requirements, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Implement strategies to support ASD, including sensory sensitivities, communication challenges, and routine-based learning.
- Foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to the student's development.
- Monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies as needed.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working with students with SEN, particularly epilepsy and ASD.
- Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or a related field.
- Epilepsy training and confidence in managing seizures and emergency protocols.
- Strong understanding of ASD and associated learning strategies.
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of the student.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working within the Newham area or a similar community.
- Knowledge of additional SEN needs and comorbid conditions.
- Training in de-escalation and positive behaviour management techniques.
