The KS1 Teacher Job

Are you a compassionate and dedicated KS1 Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of children? We are seeking a Special Educational Needs, Primary Teacher for a vibrant primary school in Southwark, specialising in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) in KS1. These classes are mixed and the students are working from an EYFS curriculum which has been tailored to suit the needs of the individual students as they develop routines and establish independence in their school journey.

In this rewarding KS1 Teacher role, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment tailored to the unique needs of each student. Your expertise as a KS1 Teacher will help develop individualised learning plans that promote engagement, independence, and social skills.

The School

The successful KS1 Teacher applicant would be joining an outstanding SEN school in Southwark for children with severe learning difficulties. The school provides a range of unique enabling environments, both indoor and outdoor, which are used to maximise learning opportunities and meet pupil's specific needs and allows the students to gain independence and life skills.

KS1 Teacher Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement personalised educational programs based on a curriculum with three various pathways.- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and educational psychologists.- Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere.- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting approaches as the primary teacher in the classroom.- Engage with parents and caregivers to support student development at home and in school.

- Work with and lead a support team within the classroom

KS1 Teacher Qualifications- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.- Strong knowledge of ASD and SLD.- Experience working in a primary education setting is preferred.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
