Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Remedy Education is working with a vibrant secondary school in Wandsworth that is looking to appoint an experienced and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support students in their academic and personal development. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students, particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

- Contract: Full-time, Term-time only

About the Role:

As an LSA, you will work closely with students, teachers, and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to provide tailored support to students, ensuring they thrive both in and out of the classroom. You will play a crucial role in building students' confidence, supporting their independent learning, and helping them overcome any barriers they face in their education.

Responsibilities:

- Provide learning support for students in Years 7 to 11, focusing on core subjects

- Assist students in building confidence, improving organisation, and understanding subject content

- Act as a key worker for a group of SEN students, conducting reviews and liaising with teachers to support individual needs

- Work alongside classroom teachers to ensure an inclusive learning environment, without disrupting the rest of the class

- Deliver targeted interventions, including small group support, as directed by the SENCO

- Encourage independent learning and inclusion, ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed

- Assist with the development of differentiated resources and materials for lessons

- Observe and support students who may be having difficulties in lessons and help them stay on track

- Maintain records of support provided to students and complete half-termly progress updates for those on the SEN register

Ideal Candidate:

- Previous experience working as an LSA or in a similar role supporting students, particularly those with SEN

- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents

- A compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to working with young people

- An understanding of SEN pedagogy and strategies to support students with additional needs

- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
