About The Role:

As a Secondary SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a broad and engaging curriculum to students with a range of SEN, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). You will play a key role in fostering a positive and structured learning environment, working closely with a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic support.

Responsibilities of Secondary SEN Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons that cater to a range of learning abilities.
  • Adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of students with SEN, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs and therapists to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom where students feel safe, valued and motivated.
  • Utilise a variety of differentiated teaching strategies to support student progress and independence.
  • Monitor and assess student learning and development, providing regular feedback and reports.
  • Implement positive behaviour management techniques to support students in self-regulation and social development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SEN best practices, policies and safeguarding procedures.

The successful candidate will:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in SEN (or willingness to undertake relevant training).
  • Proven experience working with students with a range of SEN needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and MLD.
  • A deep understanding of differentiated teaching strategies, behaviour management and inclusive education.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and support students with additional learning needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff and external professionals.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, student welfare and promoting an inclusive learning environment.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
