We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join our team in Brent, London. This role involves teaching a Key Stage 4 class comprising children in years 10 and 11 with severe learning difficulties. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about helping students prepare for adulthood by engaging them in stimulating lessons and effective communication strategies. This role would be more suited to a strong male teacher.
Day-to-day of the role:- Lead a class of seven learners with severe learning difficulties, focusing on developing their communication skills through symbols, some spoken language, and Makaton.
- Implement and adapt educational strategies to meet the needs of each student.
- Develop and deliver engaging and stimulating lessons that cater to the specific needs of the class.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with three Teaching Assistants to support the educational and developmental needs of the students.
- Monitor and assess students' progress, adapting teaching methods and materials as needed.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Proven experience in teaching students with severe learning difficulties.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to handle challenging situations.
- Experience in using alternative communication methods such as Makaton is highly desirable.
- Ability to lead a team of Teaching Assistants and work collaboratively with other professionals.
