Are you an experienced and passionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher with a commitment to creating inclusive learning environments?

We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and qualified SEN Teacher to join our vibrant, inclusive school in Brent. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with a range of learning needs, including communication difficulties, and will bring creativity, flexibility, and a strong pedagogical approach to the classroom. The Role:
  • Class Composition: You will be working with a small group of 7 students at Key Stage 4 (KS4). The students have a variety of educational needs, including communication difficulties and learning disabilities.
  • Support Team: You will have the support of 3 experienced Teaching Assistants (TAs), helping to deliver tailored interventions and ensuring that all students can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Curriculum Delivery: You will be responsible for creating and delivering engaging lessons that are accessible and relevant to each student. Lessons will need to incorporate Makaton, colour coding, and symbols to support communication and learning. The ability to adapt content to meet individual needs is essential.
  • Focus on Communication: You will use alternative communication methods and strategies to support students' language development and communication skills, including Makaton and visual aids.
  • Individualized Support: Each student’s learning plan will be carefully considered and personalized, with a focus on their strengths and areas for growth.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with our SENDCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), other teachers, and external professionals to monitor and assess students’ progress and make adjustments as needed.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience working in SEN settings, especially with KS4 students and those with communication challenges.
  • Strong understanding of Makaton and how to use it effectively in the classroom.
  • Knowledge of using colour coding and symbols as part of differentiated learning strategies.
  • An ability to plan and deliver individualized lesson plans that cater to diverse needs and abilities.
  • A positive and proactive approach to supporting students in a nurturing environment.
  • Team player who is collaborative and enjoys working with teaching assistants and external agencies.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
