Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead on all aspects of SEN provision within the school, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Identify and assess the needs of students with special educational needs and develop tailored Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCP) alongside Individual Educational Plans (IEP).
  • Work closely with teachers to provide support strategies, resources, and interventions that enable SEN students to thrive within the mainstream curriculum.
  • Liaise with external agencies, parents, and caregivers to secure additional support and resources where needed.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on effective teaching methods for students with diverse needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress and attainment of SEN students, ensuring interventions are effective and responsive.
  • Foster an inclusive environment by promoting positive behaviour management strategies and supporting mental well-being across the school.
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and contribute to the school's SEN policy development.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in SEN and commit to continuous professional development.

Qualifications & Experience
Ideal candidates will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and additional SENCo qualification or willingness to undertake training.
