About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a specialised SEN provision starting in January. This role involves working with a small class of six students with a range of profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning disabilities, sensory impairments, and medical conditions. These students also present with challenging behavior and require a highly supportive and structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver tailored lesson plans that meet the unique needs of each student
  • Employ strategies to support students with sensory impairments and severe learning difficulties
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors effectively, fostering a safe and nurturing classroom environment
  • Work closely with support staff and specialists to provide individualized educational support
  • Monitor and report on student progress, adapting teaching methods to help each child achieve their potential
About You

The ideal candidate will have a deep commitment to SEND education and an understanding of complex communication needs. We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience with children who have severe or profound learning difficulties (preferred but not essential)
  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, and other communication systems (training available)
  • A patient, compassionate, and positive teaching approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
