SEND Class Teacher

Reed Education are seeking a dedicated SEND Class Teacher to join our Autism Resource Base (ARB). This role is pivotal in supporting pupils with autism and additional needs, ensuring they achieve positive outcomes in both academic and social-emotional development. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the ARB Lead Teacher and contribute to our vision of making the ARB a beacon of excellence.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Plan and prepare lessons tailored to individual pupil needs, adhering to school policies, national requirements, and local guidelines for SEN.
- Maintain good order and discipline among pupils within the ARB, safeguarding their health, safety, and well-being.
- Support inclusive practice and ensure all pupils with SEND have access to a tailored curriculum that maximises achievement.
- Act as a role model by demonstrating and promoting high standards of professional practice and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Assess and monitor pupils’ attainment, progress, and development through robust record-keeping procedures.
- Collaborate with the ARB Lead Teacher, SENDCo, and Senior Leadership Team to meet the specific needs of all pupils through appropriate interventions and support.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with parents and carers, leading meetings to promote understanding, progress, and development.
- Manage and support the ARB’s non-teaching staff, ensuring effective collaboration and implementation of best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Proven experience in teaching pupils with SEND, particularly autism.
- Competent in the use of ICT and familiar with autism-specific teaching approaches and therapeutic interventions.
- Ability to assess and analyse pupil progress data to monitor progress toward personalised and challenging targets.
- Experience in using coaching and/or mentoring to support the development of staff working with pupils with SEND.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with current developments in SEND education.
