Position: SEND Teacher within MLD School

Location: Hillingdon

Contract Type: Full Time, Long Term

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: Scale Point Rate 700 - 1,200 / week

Are you a kind-hearted individual with the patience and creativity to be a successful SEND Teacher?

Working within SEN is incredibly rewarding but requires out of the box thinkers who are able to see beyond the labels of disability and uncover each child's potential and love for learning.

We are working with an OFSTED-rated 'Good' Special Needs School for children aged 11 to 19 years in Hillingdon, for an immediate start.

Within our School, you will work with four broad categories of need: Communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, and sensory and/or physical needs.

Education and training in Special Needs is essential. The schools are well-resourced, with excellent support in place for both staff and students, as well as outstanding CPD opportunities.

Requirements:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an Overseas Teaching Certificate recognised by Naric

* Experience of working with students with SEND within a mainstream or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) setting

* A patient and understanding approach

* A flexible approach

* Excellent communication skills

* Existing DBS check on the update service

* Experience of PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Rapid Prompting Method and other relevant augmentative and alternative communication approaches are advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

* Plan and deliver effective lessons which cater to the needs of individual EHCP plans

* Be responsible for all assessments relating to class students

* Be aware of, and remain responsible for all safeguarding of pupils within your care

* Work collaboratively with both teaching and support staff to ensure best outcomes for students

* Foster independence in students and promote well-being and good welfare
