Milk Education are working with a 3 form-entry primary school based in Ealing looking for an empathetic, dedicated, and proactive Special Educational Needs (SEN) Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our passionate team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and to support their journey of growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to children with a variety of SEN, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning challenges.
  • Assist with learning in the classroom by adapting teaching methods, supporting the use of resources, and ensuring activities are accessible to all students.
  • Monitor progress and record observations on students’ academic and social development, sharing this information with teachers and other professionals to ensure tailored support.
  • Encourage independence by helping students develop life skills and learning strategies.
  • Support emotional and behavioral needs, helping students to manage and regulate their emotions, build resilience, and improve social skills.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment, where students feel valued and supported in their individual learning journeys.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and provide feedback on progress.
  • Support students during breaks and lunchtime, ensuring their well-being and helping to build positive peer relationships.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, either in a classroom or other educational setting.
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse needs and a commitment to helping them succeed.
  • Be able to adapt and differentiate teaching materials and approaches to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, teachers, and parents.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and understanding, with a flexible approach to problem-solving.
  • Be a team player, with a collaborative attitude and a willingness to work with other professionals to provide the best support for students.
  • Hold a relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 SEN qualification, Teaching Assistant qualification) or be willing to undertake further training.
  • Experience with behavioral support strategies and knowledge of relevant SEN frameworks is highly desirable.
