This is an amazing opportunity to progress your career within one of the world's leading art gallery's, based in London, you will be reporting to the Senior Sales Director.

You'll be responsible for generating business on behalf of the gallery through sales of artwork, both primary and secondary market, by artists to private and institutional collections and through the consignment of secondary market works. The candidate would be expected to have an existing client-base and the capability and drive to grow this network both domestically and globally.

Duties:

• Plan and execute sales of artwork from the global inventory with a primary focus on London exhibition material

• Identify and negotiate secondary market consignment opportunities

• Utilise network of contacts to promote gallery exhibitions and sales

• Expand client and professional network and maintaining established relationships

• Collaborate closely with the Sales Team locally and internationally

• Engage with all client and public facing activities locally and attend art fairs and events worldwide as required

• Perform sales and market research, tracking of artwork prices, and client advisory on art market

• Provide sales cover at the London galleries

• Respond to sales-related enquiries regarding gallery artists, artworks, exhibitions and other related topics

• Maintain records of all pre-approved personal business expenses

Essential Qualifications:

• University qualification in art or art business, or comparable professional experience

• Outstanding knowledge of art history, with a focus of modern and contemporary art, as well as emerging trends and artists worldwide

• Relevant experience in working within commercial art galleries and art market, with proven success in private sales

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• Excellent administrative and organizational skills

• Experience in managing varied activities simultaneously, with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and meet dynamic deadlines

• Extensive professional network of local and global contacts in field of contemporary art

• Availability to travel, and to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience with digital database

• Extensive personal relationships with art collectors and patrons, museums, and arts institutions

• Familiarity with broad range of art communities and markets in various countries and regions worldwide
