Overview: We’re working with a thriving, independent Accountancy firm based in East London that is seeking a driven and well-rounded Senior Accountant to join their team. This is a great opportunity for a qualified accountant who wants autonomy, variety, and the chance to work closely with both clients and partners in a supportive and down-to-earth practice environment.

 

The Role: As a Senior Accountant, you’ll manage your own portfolio of clients, delivering end-to-end services including accounts, tax, and VAT. You’ll work closely with junior staff, supporting their development, while also liaising with managers and partners on more complex technical matters. The role offers real scope for progression into supervisory or managerial positions.

 

Key Responsibilities: Prepare and review year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders

 

Manage corporation tax and personal tax compliance for clients

 

Oversee VAT returns and bookkeeping queries

 

Act as the primary point of contact for your portfolio of clients

 

Provide support and mentorship to junior staff

 

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal procedures

 

Support partners with ad hoc advisory work and business planning where needed

 

Requirements: ACA / ACCA qualified (or finalist with strong experience)

 

4+ years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice

 

Confident managing a client portfolio and dealing directly with clients

 

Solid working knowledge of FRS 102 and relevant tax legislation

 

Familiarity with cloud-based systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks)

 

Strong communication and organisational skills
