RESPONSIBLE TO: Lead SLTs for Mainstream Schools

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Borough Lead for Haringey Children’s Therapy Service

JOB SUMMARY:

The post holder is part of the Mainstream Schools Speech and Language Therapy Team providing assessment, differential diagnosis, advice and intervention to children with speech, language and communication difficulties attending mainstream primary and secondary schools in Haringey.

The post holder is responsible for organising and managing his/her own caseload and also takes the lead for a small cluster of schools grouped by locality, supporting junior therapists, making decisions about prioritisation and building strong relationships with these schools. The post holder has highly specialist knowledge in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of developmental language disorder, social communication difficulties including those associated with autistic spectrum disorders and selective mutism. In addition the post holder is knowledgeable and experienced in assessing, treating and managing children and young people who have associated syndromes or special educational needs which interact with their language development.

The post holder is responsible for inducting, supervising, supporting and directing more junior SLTs as well as training students. They take on deputised duties from the Lead Speech and Language Therapists, Mainstream Schools as required.
