A well-regarded Secondary School in Kensington & Chelsea is seeking a dedicated Speech and Language Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for someone with a background or keen interest in Speech and Language Therapy, eager to support students with communication challenges and help them succeed both academically and socially.
As a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to students with speech and language difficulties, assisting them in developing effective communication skills.
- Collaborating with the SENCO, teachers, and external speech and language professionals to implement bespoke intervention programmes.
- Supporting students in accessing the curriculum and fully participating in classroom activities, ensuring their specific needs are met.
- Monitoring progress and adapting support strategies to ensure each student’s individual communication challenges are addressed.
- Encouraging students’ social and emotional development, helping to build their confidence and ability to interact effectively with peers and staff.
- Experience or a strong interest in Speech and Language Therapy, or previous experience supporting students with communication needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with students, staff, and parents.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach, committed to helping students overcome communication barriers and reach their full potential.
