Tradewind Recruitment is looking for a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant to support a KS1 child with communication needs on a 1:1 basis until July 2025.
Candidates should have experience supporting children with speech and language difficulties and knowledge of PECS and sign language is preferred.
The salary is competitive and based on experience, with a proactive and empathetic approach required for the role.

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant to support a KS1 child with communication needs on a 1:1 basis in a mainstream primary school in Islington. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with knowledge of PECS and sign language to make a meaningful impact.

The Role:

Providing 1:1 support to a KS1 child with speech and language difficulties.
Using PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and sign language to aid communication.
Implementing tailored learning strategies to help the child engage with the curriculum.
Working closely with the SENCO, Speech and Language Therapists, and class teacher to track progress.
Creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

Experience supporting children with speech and language difficulties.
Knowledge of PECS and sign language is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of early years/KS1 development and communication strategies.
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
