Purpose of the Job:
  • Assess, diagnose, and support a caseload of students with speech, language, and communication needs, including SEMH.
  • Provide evidence-based interventions for individuals and groups.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including teachers, parents, and staff, to develop and deliver assessment, training, and therapy programs.
  • Contribute to the development of Speech and Language Therapy services at the college.
Main Responsibilities

  1. Participate in professional development and continuous improvement.
  2. Work independently to provide therapy to learners with communication difficulties (post-16 students).
  3. Conduct assessments and develop therapy programs with SMART targets.
  4. Plan and deliver group and individual therapy sessions.
  5. Collaborate with teachers and support staff for classroom-based interventions.
  6. Create resources and programs for departmental use.
  7. Maintain accurate case notes and prepare detailed reports for annual reviews.
  8. Provide training and workshops for staff and guidance for parents.
Person Specification:
  • Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working with students and families with a variety of needs.
  • Experience in a school or college setting.
  • Ability to design and lead intervention programs.
