Speech and Language Therapist

We are seeking a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. This role is crucial in supporting learners to access and engage with their chosen curriculum effectively. You will work closely with students, teaching teams, and families to manage and enhance communication, social, and behavioural skills across various settings.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct comprehensive Speech and Language therapy assessments and deliver person-centred interventions to help learners develop functional skills across the curriculum.
- Understand and address the impact of communication difficulties on a person’s function and behaviour.
- Enable teaching and support staff to deliver the curriculum at an appropriate language and communication level through support plans, staff training, and class observations.
- Collaborate with learners' families, carers, and specialist health and social care teams to extend skills from the college to home and community/work settings.
- Plan and implement Speech and Language therapy and/or multi-disciplinary group work, such as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and zones of regulation.
- Monitor, evaluate, and modify interventions to measure progress and ensure the effectiveness of therapy.
- Support transitions for students entering and leaving the college, ensuring these are appropriate and effective.
- Maintain high-quality data in systems and ensure all students have access to necessary learning supports.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or related field.
- Registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and Health Professions Council.
- Experience in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of AAC and other communication aids.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
