Working hours: Core hours, 8:00-4:00 Mon - Fri

Necessary skills/experience:

*Previous experience of working within the field of neuro is essential

Job purpose:

To deliver a high-quality speech and language therapy service to patients engaging in Level 1 equivalent rehabilitation in the RLH Rapid Access to Acute Rehabilitation Unit (RAAR) following major trauma. These patients will have Neurological and/or Trauma impairments.

To provide interventions, including advanced patient assessment and treatment, individual and group education and treatment, and working closely with the IDT in goal setting, rehab planning, and family meetings.

As a service, we treat a wide range of conditions, including disorders of consciousness, cognitive-communication disorders and aphasia. Experience in both in-patient and community settings would be desirable, and you should have experience delivering communication rehab at a high level. Your key skills should include competence in assessing capacity, higher level cognitive deficits in the context of potential return to work or home and complex discharge planning.

Tracheostomy, FEES and / videofluoroscopy competence is desirable but not essential.
