About the role:

The successful applicant will be joining a dedicated multidisciplinary team within a specialist mental health service. This role involves working with individuals requiring complex care, supporting them in developing effective communication skills and managing speech, language, and swallowing difficulties.

The Speech and Language Therapist will assess service users' communication and needs, develop tailored therapy plans, and provide expert advice to both individuals and the care team.

Additionally, they will work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure an integrated approach to patient wellbeing and recovery.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct speech, language, and swallowing assessments and develop personalised therapy plans.
  • Provide education and training to staff on communication and dysphagia management.
  • Support service users in developing functional communication skills and strategies.
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of interventions and adapt plans as necessary.
  • Participate in one-to-one supervision and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Registration with the HCPC as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Experience working with individuals with complex mental health needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
