We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Procurement Specialist to join our Procurement department at The London Clinic, based at our head office site in London (W1G 6BW). We are offering a competitive salary based on skills and experience.

Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest private hospitals, with 8 state-of-the-art facilities, and circa 1350 employees where we are dedicated to providing our patients with expert, individualised treatment and care. Our main hospital spans 8 floors comprising of 150+ patient beds and 10 operating theatres, including a Hybrid theatre and two minimally invasive/day surgery theatres.

The Procurement team provide professional procurement expertise, advice and services across the organisation ensuring value for money is achieved, whilst fundamentally supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care. The Procurement department includes:

  • The Procurement & Purchasing Team
  • The Supply Chain Team
  • The Electronic and Bio-Medical Engineering (EBME) Team

Job Profile

The Clinical Procurement Specialist will maintain a close working relationship with the core Purchasing and Supply Chain team to provide an effective Procurement service. This will include working with Procurement Business Partners, as required, in tendering/RFQ's and contract management across the London Clinic.

The Clinical Procurement Specialist will be required to maintain a personal knowledge base, which reflects current research and development, and disseminate information, where appropriate. The post holder will develop and maintain relationships with clinical colleagues to ensure that patient safety is ensured and risks are minimised through best practice and by the procurement of products that are evidenced based. Through the development of these relationships the CPS will liaise with decision makers and end-users to help identify new schemes in pursuit of cost reduction objectives.

The post holder will develop, manage and report on an agreed work plan and savings plan and will take the lead on a number of projects by facilitating trials and evaluations of products which will provide the London Clinic with clinical, safety and/or financial benefits; and if and when required responding swiftly to unplanned organisational needs for example MAJAX and Pandemic outbreak of influenza or other related major incidents.

  • Job Type: Permanent, Full Time.
  • Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday
  • Job Location: 1 Park Square West, London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park/Baker St tube stations). This role will offer a hybrid working approach
  • Salary: £43,920 - £51,419 per annum.

Key Duties

  • To engage with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in order to provide a high-quality service.
  • To provide guidance, advice and support to clinical leads, matrons, ward managers and other staff in relation to clinical procurement issues, supporting improvements in clinical practice, raising standards of care as well as the delivery of value in the goods and services the hospital purchases.
  • Support specific clinical product evaluation projects considering existing local and national guidelines and best practice involving product users at every stage to support definition of clinical criteria and evaluation strategy.
  • Promote awareness and understanding within the London Clinic of the function and usage of products within the supply chain teams, increase understanding of clinical concerns and issues and the positive impact of effective clinical procurement strategies on the quality of patient care.
  • Support the Supply Chain team to identify, source suitable alternatives and direct replacements in response of vendor stock outs and discontinuation.

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive knowledge and post registration experience in healthcare.
  • Experience working in healthcare in an acute Hospital.
  • NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) or HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) current registration
  • Competent with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrable experience of:
    • Multidisciplinary working
    • Statistical and data analysis skills.
    • Risk assessment / analysis & incident reporting.
    • Experience of applying principles of change management.
    • Implementing and evaluating change.
