Procurement Consultant - Public Sector - Boutique Procurement Consultancy

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 + BonusLocation: Hybrid (with travel to client sites as required) - Head office London

My client is seeking a Procurement Consultant to join their team, working on diverse and high-impact projects across the public sector.

Key Responsibilities

As a Procurement Consultant, you will:

  1. Deliver End-to-End Procurement Solutions:
    • Lead or support procurement projects such as transformation, outsourced services, strategy development, and cost optimisation.
    • Manage the procurement lifecycle, from needs assessment and tendering to contract negotiation and implementation.
  2. Engage with Stakeholders:
    • Collaborate with public sector clients to understand their unique challenges and objectives.
    • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive project success.
  3. Develop and Implement Strategies:
    • Analyse current procurement processes to identify areas for improvement.
    • Design and implement tailored procurement strategies that align with client goals.
  4. Provide Commercial Insights:
    • Leverage your commercial acumen to identify opportunities for cost savings and value creation.
    • Support clients in navigating complex procurement landscapes, including compliance with public sector regulations.
  5. Influence and Communicate Effectively:
    • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing clear, actionable recommendations.
    • Present findings and strategies confidently to stakeholders at all levels.

What We're Looking For

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Procurement Expertise:
    • Experience in procurement, either within a consultancy or a commercial/public sector environment.
    • Led end to end procurement processes 'cradle to grave'
    • Knowledge of public sector procurement frameworks and regulations (e.g., OJEU, PCR).
  • Commercial Acumen:
    • A strong ability to assess business needs and identify commercial opportunities.
    • Experience delivering cost-saving initiatives and value-optimisation projects.
  • Communication & Influencing Skills:
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive consensus in complex environments.
  • Project Management:
    • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
    • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a focus on delivering measurable outcomes.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Consultancy experience, particularly within public sector procurement.
  • Experience within clinical procurement projects
  • Familiarity with procurement tools and software.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPS or Prince2.
