Job Description:

The Behaviour mentor will work with students who are unable to attend mainstream education due to behavioral, emotional, or social challenges or on the verge of being kicked out. The role involves providing tailored academic and emotional support, helping students to engage with their learning, and promoting positive behavior and personal development in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in small groups or one-to-one settings to access learning activities.
  • Assist in the delivery of lessons designed to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Promote positive behavior and emotional well-being, providing encouragement and guidance.
  • Help implement behavior management strategies in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students to foster trust and engagement.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and well-being to teaching staff and senior leaders.
  • Support with reintegration plans for students transitioning back to mainstream education (where applicable).

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people with behavioral, emotional, or social difficulties (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and behavior management skills.
  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of individual students and provide a safe, nurturing environment.

Essential:

  • Passion for education and working with young people with challenging Behaivour .
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSEs or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
  • Commitment to safeguarding children.
